Often regarded as one of the most famous shops on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, Playground Pier, which was known as The Pier Shops at Caesars until 2015, is home to numerous stores spread over four stories, from luxury jewelry vendors to wedding planners.
The mall is connected to Caesars Casino via a fancy sky bridge on the second floor, so players can easily go from playing to paying! Tropicana Atlantic City is one of the most famous names alongside Caesars and now operates under Caesars Entertainment. Are There Any Closed Atlantic City Casinos on the Boardwalk?
Over time, a number of casinos on Atlantic City’s Boardwalk have shut their doors. The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel was one such establishment that shut its doors in January 2014. The property struggled financially and was forced to close after failing to attract a buyer.
The Claridge Hotel was another major shutdown that occurred in 2014. Later, Caesars Entertainment bought it, and it was reopened as a hotel without a casino.
Former President Donald Trump briefly owned the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, which shut its doors in September 2014. After experiencing financial issues, billionaire Carl Icahn eventually purchased the casino. The establishment is now going through redevelopment.
Popular casino and hotel Showboat Atlantic City shut down in August 2014. Caesars Entertainment used the closure as part of a plan to lessen competition in the area.
Not all the news, though, has been depressing. Formerly known as the Trump Taj Mahal, the Hard Rock Hotel Casino Atlantic City shut its doors in 2016 but reopened under new management in June 2018. After substantial repairs, it is currently a flourishing entertainment attraction.
