New Jersey Online Gambling on the Rise: Monthly Revenues Set a New Record in January ’21
The casino revenues have been steadily rising in New Jersey, skyrocketing to a whopping $103.8 million in January 2021. Golden Nugget generated the highest monthly revenue of all online casino operators – $31.2 million; Borgata network of sites, including BetMGM accounted for about $28.7 million. Resorts Digital Gaming holds on to third place with revenue of $22.8 million. The January 2021 rise was followed by a slight decline in February, which always resulted in a steady recovery.
New Jersey became the first US state to generate over $100 million in monthly online casino revenues, and the figures are just as impressive for land-based gambling. According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJ DGE), the total gaming revenue in January 2021 accounted for $346.4 million, a noticeable 15.3% rise from the same month of the previous year.
The most rapid growth was shown by sports betting. January’s sports betting revenue reached a record $82.6 million with a wagering handle of $958.7 million, a 54.3% increase from the same period of 2020. More than half of January’s sports betting revenue, $46.3 million, was generated by parlay wagers.
