Kindred is Closing Its New JerseyUnibet Online Sportsbook and Casino
Online gamblers in New Jersey now have one less choice as a second European operator has given up on the US market.
Kindred Group plc stated that it is removing Unibet from markets in North America. Unibet Online Casino in NJ is no more. The Malta-based business is permanently exiting the NJ online casino and sports betting markets. Kindred said in a news statement that it plans to fully withdraw by the second quarter of 2024.
Unibet’s Exit Will Result in $50.5 Million Savings
Kindred gave two reasons for the North American withdrawal: a concentration on core markets and cost-cutting measures. According to the company, the reorganization would result in the loss of up to 300 jobs. Kindred anticipates saving around $50.5 million over the next year.
The interim CEO of Kindred, Nils Andén, said in a statement that the cost-cutting measures are both essential and decisive. Although it is never the intention to notify cherished coworkers of layoffs, this strengthens the company’s position to ensure Kindred’s long-term development in its locally regulated key markets.
The business may now concentrate its technological capabilities and resources on key projects and particular areas where it perceives an unmistakable opportunity to increase its market share.
